We deliver courses across the North East of England, and have been successfully delivering the Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) for over 20 years.
If you are found guilty of drink driving, you could be imprisoned, banned from driving and face a fine. The actual penalty you may receive is decided by the magistrates who hear your case, and depends on the details of your offence. Further information on Sentencing Guidelines can be found here.
You may be eligible to reduce your driving ban by completing one of NECA’s Drink Drive Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) courses if you’re banned from driving for 12 months or more. It is up to the court to offer this.
This Disqualification Calculator may be able to assist you in checking your dates of disqualification. If details differ from court documents, please contact the relevant court.
What Happens Now?
The courts will create a referral order, which will be sent to us. When we receive this, we’ll send a letter with some information about the course. But if you haven’t heard from us within 14 days, please contact us.

What happens during the Course?
We realise you may be a bit apprehensive about doing a course. We will do all we can to create the right environment to address a whole range of issues.
The course itself is a mix of presentations, discussions, and activities, taught over a minimum of 16 hours. You must attend the whole course in the correct order to have successfully completed.
There are no exams to sit – and at the end of the course you will have all the information you need to allow you to make informed choices. You will know how alcohol affects the body, and what information is true or false. And you will also know what the law states as acceptable and sensible drinking.
You will be empowered with the skills needed to change your drinking/driving behaviour.
Learn and listen in a non-judgemental, non-threatening environment, and become a safer driver.
What happens after the Course?
Following successful completion of the full course you will receive your Completion Certificate in the post.
A copy is sent to the relevant court as confirmation of your attendance. The courts will process this and advise DVSA of your course completion. This will then allow you to apply for your licence at the appropriate date.
